A Few Suggestions For What You Can Do Today To Accelerate Your Networking Endeavors

  1. Re-connect with existing clients or prospective clients and business associates and colleagues with whom you have not met recently.

  2. Invite a prospective referral source to lunch, etc. – simply to get to know one another.

  3. Set up a small seminar breakfast meeting with existing clients and prospective clients (or even request your client to bring a ‘friend’). Be sure that the substance / content of this breakfast meeting will be useful to the attendees. Suggestions: invite a speaker on specialized topics relevant to the attendees’ leadership styles, or management concerns, or business development needs. Assume the role of a resource for informational services.

  4. Become known as an expert in your field. Offer to write articles to local papers and/or introduce yourself to media people who cover / write about financial planning, etc. and nurture a relationship with them. Help them to see you as an expert and someone to quote.

  5. Ask your clients if you can attend one of his/her business – trade – professional organizations.

  6. Create a list of ten people you want to meet: because they are in flourishing networks, and/or they can be informational mentors, and/or they can be referral sources ONLY AFTER you have offered to (or actually helped) help them, and/or you can bring benefits to their business development and maintenance needs, etc., etc.

  7. Contact two business organizations (civic groups, Men’s Clubs, Women’s Business Organizations, Chambers of Commerce, etc.) and offer to make a presentation at one of their meetings as well as sponsor one of their meetings.

THE LIST WILL CONTINUE AS LONG AS YOU MAKE STEPS TOWARDS INCREASING YOUR NETWORKS AND NETWORKING EFFORTS. YOU NEED TO PRACTICE ON THE REAL PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD TO OBTAIN REAL RESULTS.
